Super bantamweight contender Cristian Mijares (48-7-2, 23KOs) is expecting to recieve a bout agreement to face WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz (25-0-1, 15KOs) on November 2nd, likely at the StubHub Center in California. Mijares plans to review the contract, sign it and send it back. He already started training for the match. The World Boxing Council made Mijares the mandatory challenger to Santa Cruz, who knocked out Victor Terrazas in three rounds to capture the title on August 24th. Earlier this year, Mijares lost a close twelve round split decision to Terrazas.

Man, five or more years ago I'd have taken Mijares over someone like Cruz definitely. He was one hell of a fighter and deservedly P4P up to his fight with Vic. Just went to **** from there though and you can tell he doesn't train hard at all anymore. Comes in looking flabby and soft at weights he shouldn't even be at.

Still, he might give Cruz some good rounds before he runs out of steam. The problem is though that because he doesn't train, he doesn't do any of the stuff he used to. He would have once made Cruz miss just about everything while, while tagging him back a lot in return, now he doesn't throw much, doesn't move much and doesn't have any of his head movement left.

I think the BS decisions that haven't gone his way over the last few years have probably added to that too. The first robbery against Cermeno, then more recently against Terrazes. Oh well...

Depends if Mijares shows up at all or not. Vic in his prime was a hell of a fighter, and better than Cruz in my opinion. Very different too. More power and much more crafty, underratedly so, when he was at his peak.

If Mijares showed up, Cruz would play right into his style, alas, Mijares won't show up, so it's highly possible he does just get beaten up sadly.
