    Comments Thread For: Sky Sports and Matchroom Extend Boxing Union To 2016

    Matchroom Sport has announced that their exclusive deal with sky has been extended for a further two years, effective from June 2014. The deal will be for 20 shows per year and will carry them through to 2016.

    “I'm delighted to announce a new two-year extension to our existing contract with Sky Sports which will see us as the principle promoter on the channel to summer 2016,” said Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn when announcing the deal on www.matchroomboxing.com.

    ......a fresh contract will allow Hearn to go on yet another signing rampage.

    Shame Sky can't find some room for a couple of dates for Hennessey and Hatton but they apparently don't want the hassle of working with other promoters and Hearn will get paid to fix deals with Warren et al when there's a big domestic showdown that needs to be made.

    The only good news is that at least Sky are sticking with boxing!

      Anyone know if 20 per year is more dates than in the previous contract?
