You see it with pitbulls and fighter dogs. It seems the more they are mistreated/abused the better they are at winning.
It seems like quite a few boxers to me have had rough childhoods. Like Mayweather. He says his childhood was ok, but you know he took some abuse/mistreatment from his dad Floyd Sr. Tim Bradley is another one. Looks like his dad used to work him as if he literally mistaken him for a dog. They are great fighters though.
