This thread should never be deleted. It shows how idiotic some "respected" posters truly are. I mean could you at least get corroborating reports from multiple sources before going off the deep end.

If Evil Genius "made this up", then maybe he'd be an idiot. However these "rumors" were not his and they didn't materialize out of thin air. They're out there for a reason. And maybe the backlash provided by posting it may prevent such a horrible travesty from actually occurring.

I'm not talking about the TS, I'm talking about the responses. Perhaps "trust, but verify" should be the new standard for NSB. The over reaction to unsubtstantiated reports, particulalrly when one or two names are mentioned, is getting a little ridiculous.

I doubt the backlash from a few posters on NSB would stop SHowtime from putting on a profitable event.

This is all just a media/fan reaction test done by Team Mayweather. There's a scheme here that seems fairly obvious to me. 1). A month or two before making an official decision, put out an opponents name in the media and make it sound like it's a done deal. 2). Team Mayweather wages in on the interest/reactions/opinions of the media/fans, focusing in on who will help make the most money. "Devon Alexander is next", anyone?? Alexander still ISN'T next, there's no money OR interest in him.

As far as announcing it so quickly, people eventually forget the things that Team Mayweather said before officially announcing who he's fighting next, probably because they're so damn glad he's NOT fighting the one they originally said he was. A "whew" moment, if you will. And if there IS an interest/upside with money, they have nothing to lose by throwing someones name out there because they end up fighting him anyway. It's a win-win situation for TM.

Common sense says - we all know that they (GBP/TM) always make an official announcement when it's a sealed deal and the papers are drawn up and signed. OR, FMJ tweets it himself on Twitter/Twatter. Right now, they're just looking to see if Mayweather/Khan is a fight people will pay PPV $$$ to see.

Nice call, just testing the waters and the best way to do this is to leak the story and see how the public react.
