Hunter calling up Calzaghe, begging for a fight, Is Andre Ward that desperate?

Joe Calzaghe reveals he still gets offers for fight 4/5 years after his retirement.

Joe claims he got called out a few weeks ago from Andre Ward's trainer wanting for Joe to come out of retirement and fight Ward.

Although Calzaghe would still be a huge draw, it show how desperate team Ward is for a big fight.

Despite, being the divisional number one, Ward has struggled with injures since the Dawson fight and can't land a big fight?

Ward does not have a very pleasing style, so the fans don't want to pay good money to see Andre fight.

The two biggest draws at Super middle tried to get Ward to come over to their back yard for a fight but Ward only likes to fight in Oakland.

As a result he has been frozen out, no big names on the horizon for Ward and unless Ward start to lower his demands and is willing to at least fight in neutral venues he not going to get many big pay days or big fights.

Ward seems weary of moving up to light-heavy and taking on the two newest brightest stars in the division in Stevenson and Kovalev, but may more willing to wait for GGG to move up SM and challenge him.

His fight against Rodriguez will be nothing but a televised sparring match is not going to add to his appeal.

While Carl Froch's career has gone from strength to strength since his loss to Ward, Ward career has gone backwards, starting with the draining of Dawson and now his inability to get a credible fight.

Ward could end up wasting his career unless he is willing to compromise to get the big fights, he must realise he is not the draw and the big draws in boxing will simply bypass him rather than dance to his rather specific tune.

Former world champion Joe Calzaghe says he still gets offers to come out of retirement and box again.

Whaaat Ward is doing much better and is looked at as almost unbeatable.

But Ward vs Calzaghe sounds cool, Ward can get revenge for Ol' Bhop and RJJ, Calzaghe too shook to rematch Bhop

In Ward difficulty to land a big fight or raise his profile.

Calzaghe is retired, he is gone, done with boxing.

What next Wlad to fight Big George

If that's true then it's pretty embarrassing.

Joe has (at least I don't recall) ever shown a desire to return to the ring. I get that Ward is running out of options but this is a bit of a joke.

IMO Ward should chase the fight with Chavez at 168, whoop him & then move up to 175.

And to be honest calling out Joe does nothing for his legacy at all.

The Chavez fight would be good for Ward, make him more likable and get him more coverage.

Ward needs to start fighting in Vegas as well.

Joe would beat the brakes off of Ward.

not many people are interested in ward, a pampered fighter who does not like to fight outside his back garden. and when he does fight, its crap! boring style and also a dirty fighter.

you certainly wont catch me up til 6 am to watch his boring fights.

A Prime Calzaghe, but he not been boxing for over 4 years, and not really been living a healthy lifestyle, and he is the wrong side of 40.

But why is Hunter phoning Calzaghe up for, who is he going to phone next, Hagler?

Joe's absolutely done with fighting and this BBC piece is more about JC politely reminding a few people that he was a major, big-time star and that some of his successors would prefer him to be still active and that a fight with him reamins far better than anything currently on offer.

But if anyone does happen to be in Wales next week and you see a chunky looking Italian bloke flogging his way up a hillside....followed by a short, angry and elderly Italian bloke yelling obscen****** from a bike...then you've probably got yourself a mighty big scoop and should be calling the media!!
