Floyd Mayweather very well may be coming off of a virtuoso performance on Sept. 14 in Las Vegas, where he dominated a very dangerous Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez over twelve rounds, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a few struggles for the sport’s pound for pound king as he moves forward in his career.

Simply put, Mayweather was so sharp against Alvarez that his performance not only beguiled his 36 years of age, it also left the boxing public wondering who exactly is left on the horizon that can actually challenge him.

Sharing his thoughts on Mayweather’s latest outing, former multi-division titlist Nonito Donaire was quick to give praise.

You've got Trout, I think will give him a [fight] ... Because he's a taller guy, southpaw. And he's a distance type of fighter. That might be more of a difficult fighter than Canelo because styles make fights.

Totally agree with this. I dunno about you guys, but I'd love to see a Mayweather-Trout fight at 154, even though it'd be a tough sell in terms of PPV. Plus, I'm of the firm belief that Trout beat Alvarez.

I'm a bit bored of Mayweather fighting all these come-forward fighters like Hatton, Ortiz, Cotto, Guerrero and Alvarez. I want to see him in there with a rangy southpaw slickster who'll box him like Judah tried to.

... which is why I don't mind him fighting the winner of Alexander-Khan. Regardless of who wins, I'll sort of get what I want to see.

The only fighters that could test Mayweather are those with Margarito-type styles or the Angulo types. It is extremely difficult to beat a boxer that runs and able to quickly disengage. So the small Garcia types, Khan, Alexander, Bradley, etc.. will all be easy money for Money Mayweather. Cotto was the closest equivalent, but his mistake was not being able to maintain the aggression. Fighting Mayweather in the center of the ring should never have been an option.

Well now that you say that, I'd rather see Lara-Trout first, with the winner then getting a Mayweather shot. Whilst that's going on, Mayweather could fight the Alexander-Khan winner. Garcia I really don't give a shit about, even though I think he's earned his shot more so than any of the aforementioned fighters.
