It was a robbery! Chavez name is strong!

I truly doubt chavez will remain a big draw after this.

10% to the winner in this crooked sport. Haha!

I thought it was a pretty close fight so kind of surprised no one saw it for JCC Jr., there is probably some bias going on given the distastes purists would have for such a circus. Lots of those guys would be looking to stick it to JCC Jr. he deserves that and he certainly could have lost the fight.

It also may have looked different at ringside although looking at the scores most felt it was pretty close also.

As for the judges scores being wide, well it comes down to what you liked if you liked what one guy was doing it stands to reason that you would like them in most rounds, so while the fight might have been close the round scores don't have to be close.

While I thought Vera deserved the win, that is a valid point. Following the fight live on Twitter it was obvious that many who were scoring who were hoping that Chavez would lose. Not that there is anything wrong with that...

The first half of the fight I thought Chavez Jr was doing just enough to keep the fight close. The last half Vera pulled away and was outworking him at some points about as bad as Martinez did. There were more than a few times when Chavez's head was snapping back from punches so I don't buy the more effective punches came from Jr. This one was an obvious one, but with that being said Vera is a journeyman and Chavez is the money guy. In the big scheme of things this fight isn't going to change the future for either one of them. Vera will still be a journeyman and Chavez will continue to get the money fights.

You said who cares what they thought and jr got the W. This thread just confirms that the consensus is jr got a robbery

Not 1, damn, I had it a draw myself but really surprised that no one had it for JCCjr.

There were few draws. I felt Vera edged it too, but if you're scoring on clean effective punches it's easy to see how Chavez might get the nod since he rocked Vera a number of times.

I don't think it was as clear-cut as those press scores have it.

Vera had 4 clear rounds. Chavez had 2. The other 4 were close, and Chavez has an argument in all of them.

I'm surprised no one sees it for him. Vera deserved it more, but it wasn't a clear cut 6-4 win for him.

I guess we should factor in the 'underdog' aspect, the fact Vera is a US fighter and possibly the biggest one of all, everyone hates Chavez.
