KOSHIMOTO UPSETS IN JIN CHI!
Takashi Koshimoto of Japan defeated Injin Chi of South Korea to capture the WBC featherweight title on Sunday. The split decision win came in Koshimoto's hometown of ***uoka. At 35 years old, Koshimoto became the oldest Japanese boxer to claim a world title. Chi, relegated to long stretches of inactivity due to promotinal difficulties, was making just the third defense of the title he won on April 10, 2004. Koshimoto improved to 39-1-2, including 17 KOs. Next, he is slated to fight Humberto Soto, who defeated Rocky Juarez to earn a WBC interim belt at 126 pounds. Chi fell to 30-3-1 with 18 KOs.source: Associated Press
