I think we should start getting used to the idea that it won't. I hope it does, but it seems unlikely.
If Golovkin picks up wins over, I don't know, Barker and Murray just to throw two names out there, and Sergio's hurt again or doesn't want it, we'll probably see Ward-Golovkin next year.
I actually think there's a decent chance of the Martinez fight getting made. Sergio has only a coupla fights left I think and his team have said he intends to stay fighting on HBO. I think he'll take an easier (but still quality) fight in April/May perhaps at 154, then I'm hoping he'll take the GGG fight later in the year, principally 'cos it'll probably be the biggest payday he can get with HBO.
I believe HBO will pay a lotta $s to get Golovkin the shot at the lineal. Which is another reason Maravilla might want the earlier fight at 154 - he loses much of his bargaining power with HBO if he loses the lineal, yet still wants a decent payday for the first fight.
GGG seems to have a opponent penciled in for late Jan (25th?) but not on HBO which I think likely means not in the US. I was hoping it could be Murray in the UK, but this is really just guessing.
Ward has La Bomba, after that, I ain't sure. There has been some hints that HBO might have interest in Ward - Kovalev. I can see some logic in that since there is more action for ward at 175 now than 168 (he's quite a big SMW anyway), and it's win/win for HBO as they've not invested much in Kovalev yet, but could build him up should he win.
Ward moving upto 175 also frees up 168 for GGG (who they have invested heavily in) to campaign at, without the worry of him facing Ward ...yet, at least... which would involve the sacrifice of one of their big stars' zeroes.

And why would he say that? He did no such things against better fighters like Froch, Kessler, and Dawson but for reason he'll fear and demand more money, against an unproven (on the elite level) blown up middleweight? People really need to calm down with this dude. He's a good middleweight CONTENDER (champion if you include his paper belt) that hasn't even fought or beaten the best fighter in his own division. I don't even think he would beat Mayweather, let alone Ward. Cut it out people.
