Yeah, I thought Vera won the fight but the fix was already in. So that robbery wasn't a surprise. Jr is straight garbage. I find him to be nothing but a gimmick with famous name. And to think Jr had every advantage going into the fight and look like doo-doo.

To deny that boxing is corrupt... is to deny reality.. Throughout history there have been robberies that have raised eye brows... and rounds given that have shocked.. Lewis-Holyfield Round 5... etc... some rounds in Chavez-Whitaker etc...... Pacquaio-Bradley...

What's really sickening is this hurts the fighters at the lower end .. who would have lived a lot more comfortably if a few more decisions were given to them in fairness.. Glen Johnson being called a journeyman... is a great example of just how robberies effect a fighter's reputation......


I believe there are two types of major corruptions that lead to robberies.

1- Corruption for money purposes.(Bribes, bigger rematch, betting outcomes etc)

2- Corruption due to favoring the more popular ticket seller fighter by ensuring he don't lose his stepping stone fighters and stay busy fights.. hence getting the bigger paydays.


Just a ****ty place the sport is in...as boxing popularity declined.. the overall number of robberies actually increased... ...Sickening.

HBO told someone (steve kim) after the fight that they would make sure Vera would get another fight on their airwaves. So that is a small win for Vera in a sense. HBO at least will give him another good payday
