Don't know why they shouldn't-it's the sporting thing to do and they are working together as part of a team. It would otherwise only make the sparring partner feel that he's just a slab of beef, when in fact he is may also a fighter getting into shape for a fight.
And Europeans in general-are invariably far more polite and demonstrative than the crass Americans, which is why I think it might be a PR photo. In those far off days when I was boxing it was the proper, sporting thing to do and nobody would think of NOT doing it. It was very common in most professional bouts also. It can be seen in the older videos. Jack Dempsey, who came up in a much harder environment than we today could even imagine, always helped the opponent and made sure he was O.K.
I only saw indifference in a boxer a couple of times and the crowd bood like billy-oh.
Have we become more callous to others' discomfort these days?? THAT'S an easy one to answer.Comment

I don't remember you saying the same thing about Rigondeaux,Whats with all the "i hope he doesnt get overhyped" crap. The guy is a 2 time olympic and world champ. He's one of the greatest amateurs in history with 300+ wins and only 1 loss. If there's ever a guy to hype, it's lomachenko. It would be like saying i hope they dont overhype Ray Leonard when he went pro

Ummm. What's your problem with Cruiser? Sure, HWs still finding it's feet after the Klitschko reign, but it ain't terrible - don't get why you're saying it ain't 'world class' though. Unless you're saying it ain't American enough?Comment

This is a thread from 3 years ago. Obviously the face of both divisions has changed since then.
Even heavyweight is intriguing again thanks to Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.Comment
