Comments Thread For: Beltran: Chavez Jr. Will Fight at 168 For Next Bout

Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions has said that former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will fight at the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds for his next fight. Chavez has been inactive for a year and last fought at 160, but he struggled to make the 168 contract limit for tonight's fight with Bryan Vera in Carson, California. On Wednesday the weight was increased to a catch-weight limit of 173-pounds.

Ward vs Chavez super fight. Andre Ward should be more arrogant and go "heel" like the WWF fighters used to do. That will probably help sell him to the public and turn him into the next Mayweahter.

looking at his pics he didn't look overweight at all, he's just way to big for 160. don't know why they keep trying to keep him down that far. 168 is going to pose huge problems for him if he doesn't improve his defense. froch vs jr would be a absolute war. stay away from ward though he doesnt have the make up to beat him. slow on his feet slow hands face first fighter and probably not as strong, anybody else I give him a good shot at beating

Don't be silly Beltran. You don't tell Chavez Jr what weight he will fight at next, he'll tell you.

And he'll probably tell you on the day of the weigh in for his next bout.

Because that's his only advantage. Coming in 180 the next day while others like Sergio come in at 167 to 170 on fight night. He starts fighting light heavyweights that are the same size as him on fight night, he's getting his ass whooped.

If it's against anyone worth a damn, he'd better take the weigh seriously. A top guy isn't going to put up with the crap they've pulled with Vera.

This is Excellent for Arum. He's trying to sign Ward, what better way than gift wrapping him Chavez Jr. If Chavez Jr. is still popular, this'll be Ward's limelight shot.
I can see the commercial now.... constant replays of him knocking down Sergio Martinez
