Comments Thread For: Team Mayfield Ready to ‘Shine’ Against Fernandez

Junior welterweight contender Karim Mayfield recently learned that his Top Rank debut would not take place against his originally scheduled opponent, but his trainer does not feel the change will affect his fighter’s focus or approach this Saturday.

“Karim’s been off for almost a year now, and it’s taken awhile to get his timing down,” said Bautista, who trained Mayfield in Las Vegas for this camp and has worked with him since the amateurs. “But he’s ready, and I think what he has right now will be enough to win tomorrow.”

mayfield has already fought 5 undefeated fighters in a short career.... he's had to do it the hard way..... he's got a contract with top rank and he'll get this tune-up out of the way and head for the top fighters in the stable.

I think he's in his prime now he's getting up there in age but in the next couple years im sure he will make a name for his self. he has a lot of experience sparring with top notch fighters and getting the best of them, he's had to come up the hard way but with top rank behind him now all it takes is one high profile win and he's on the map
