Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz has confirmed to BoxingScene.com that a deal was finalized for Jorge Linares (34-3, 22KOs) to challenge Richar Abril (18-3-1, 8KOs) for the WBA lightweight championship on November 10th in Tokyo, Japan. Promoter Mr. Honda of Teiken Promotions, who co-promote Linares with Golden Boy, is staging the show.

decent fight, all things considered. it's gonna be like watching paint dry, though. abril has one of the least fan friendly styles in boxing.


i haven't read the articles, so i can't be sure about this, but i doubt very much this will make it to hbo or showtime. talk about a non TV friendly fight.

good / decent fighters, but bad styles. linares is at least entertaining against an aggressor because he gets beat up. abril spoils against everybody.
