Manny Pacquiao Lost $100 Million By Not Fighting Floyd Mayweather

A few years back Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao were negotiating terms of a fight that would could have been the most lucrative boxing match of all time. It never happened because Pacquiao would not agree to Olympic-style drug testing. Pacquiao’s decision cost him dearly.
Showtime Networks announced Thursday that the previous Saturday’s fight between Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez generated a record $150 million in pay-per-view revenue, breaking the record of $136 million for Mayweather’s 2007 fight against Oscar De La Hoya. The Mayweather-Canelo fight at the MGM Grand Arena also set a record for largest gate for a boxing match ($20 million) and and Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, says the fight will exceed $200 million in total revenue when all revenue streams are counted.
But a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would have generated much, much more. Three years ago the split between Mayweather and Pacquiao would have been roughly 50-50 for a fight that would have likely grossed more than $250 million, given Mayweather-Alvarez did over $200 million. After taking out the cut for the pay-per-view carriers, I figure Pacquiao and his camp lost about $100 million in earnings.
acquiao has never come close to earning what he could have made fighting Mayweather. His biggest payday: $25 million for his last Marquez bout. And Pacquiao’s brand has taken a hit with his recent losses. He is guaranteed to earn just $18 million from his next fight in November against Brandon Rios.

100 million dollars isn't adequate enough compensation for a couple of tablespoon sized blood samples taken over the course 2 months.

They both lost a lot of money. Floyd will recover that 100 over the course of his showtime contract. However, he could have possibly had 100 PLUS the showtime contract.

        Sad this never happened.

olympic style drug testing is a year round process. no cut off date and no bull crap as the fraud was trying to dictate.

floyd was caught three times already, then how in the hell would you believe him?

it's only a ploy by floyd to cover up that he's scared of fighting pac.

He obviously knew Pac would decline a simple blood test right?

not 100 million, Floyds offer was a flat 40 million, more than twice Mannys highest payday

The article is referencing the orginal late 09/early 10 negotiations when the demand for the fight was at it's apex, and a time when Pacquiao's side of the table would've made the most money off of the fight. But instead, Pac bailed on the fight and chose to fight Josh Clottey instead, all because he didn't want to submit himself to a couple 100 million dollar blood samples.

Ironically, the same blood testing that he's now demanding out of Rios & Marquez (for a 5th fight) in order to secure a fight with himself.

had he faught Mayweather and (exposed either by losing or test positive) he wouldn't have been on another PPV so really he didn't lose 100 million
