Who DOESN'T Have An All Time Great List?

I've been watching boxing since the early 1970's.

I've seen the demise of Ali, the peak of Duran, the rise of Leonard, Hagler & Hearns.

The peak of the British Middleweight (& Supermiddleweight) scene - in person, during the late 80's & early 90's.

I watched Lewis, Jones, De La Hoya, Mayweather, Klitschko's, Khan and others fight as amateurs.

I watched Naseem Hamed as a young teen when he flew around the ring but didn't throw punches with any serious power.

And many, many others. I love this sport. I don't care if a fighter is black, white, Asian or other. I don't care what country he comes from. I don't care if he loses loads of fights (I love Dennis Andries, Steve Robinson & Glen Johnson, among others).

And I really don't care too much about all time great. I ain't slagging those who do. It's better to be interested in this than not interested in boxing.

But if I made a list I would be changing it every f.ucking day. Every hour. I'd go mad.

I think Jack Johnson is the greatest heavyweight of all time. But he'd get knocked out by Wladimir. Why? Because he's much smaller. Has different training techniques. Grew up in a different era. Had different food. Smoked. Had to pace himself to fight 20 or more rounds. The list is endless.

But to those of you who love their ATG lists, respect. Keep it up & keep talking up the sport.

I've tried but I get bored when I get to like 10-12. I'd rather look at other people's lists and complain about what they did wrong.

Good post, and I agree; I always say I am a fight fan, not a fighter fan.

You can watch tapes and read biographies all day, but if you weren't there when it happened, you can never really understand the dynamics of a boxing event. I haven't been around since the beginning of boxing as we know it, so I wouldn't dream of implying I know who the greatest fighters of all time are,

Some may disagree, and that's fine. I may pull for a certain guy here and there, but at the end of it, I just want to see some great fights.

Saying that, Erik Morales for life, mother****ers.

Nope because I wasnt born in 30's to give a accurate assessment. Anybody can say Henry Armstrong is great cause of what you read or heard somebody say. So I dont argue with people who have fighters from before I was in the top 20.
