Comments Thread For: Juanma Lopez To Add Pedro Diaz as New Trainer?

Former champion Juan Manuel Lopez (33-3, 30 KOs) confirmed that he is talking with Cuban coach Pedro Diaz about the possibility of working together. Juanma told Jose Sanchez that nothing has been decided but the two of them are discussing the possibility of a working relationship. In his last ring appearance, in June, Juanma was easily stopped by Mikey Garcia. Juanma wants to continue his career at super featherweight. Diaz used to trainer Juanma's countryman Miguel Cotto, and currently trains Guillermo Rigondeaux, Odlanier Solis and several other boxers.

    I'ts About Time.

It's about time he got a new trainer, he needs someone like ronnie shields or robert garcia and he needs to tell whoever he hires that he wants to work on improving his defense because his defense is terrible and is the reason he has lost most of his fights. He also needs to improve his foot movement in and out, his timing and counter punching, and develop a good solid jab from either stance to set everything up.

So, pretty much, improve everything except his punching power.

Feel bad for Juanma. He needs to hang them up b4 he ends up like meldrick Taylor. I haven't seen a fighter look as bad as he did against Garcia on a hbo or showtime main event.

I think this is too late. I mean the way Juanma looks is beyond shot, he looks lost out there and with no life.

Probably too late but better late than never. Two or three tune ups and then maybe one last payday.
