Where have YOU been ?
Hatton was a 140 and tried failing miserably at 147 but Yer JR said got to come to 147. Thats a straight up Cherry PICK
JMM was a blown up featherweight and was fighting at 130 when JR said you got to come to like 144 or 146 then JR didn't comply with the weight and laughing paid the forfeit and went up in weight to insure his weight
etc......... and etc................
Hatton was un-defeated when he fought Floyd.
Hatton just like every other fighter wanted the Floyd fight BADLY and was willing to come up in weight for it. Matter fact, on this very forum, everyone was accusing Floyd of "ducking" Hatton.
One of my favorite threads comparing the two was the infamous "Hatton has a bigger fan base than Mayweather" thread:
As far as Marquez goes, here's what he had to say about Floyd earlier this year:
"I don't want to fight him again because everyone saw what happened in 2009 and I think it's better if he goes his way and I go mine,"
MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Four division champion Juan Manuel Marquez was front and center in Las Vegas to do Spanish commentary on ESPN Deportes for Floyd Mayweather's dominant victory over Robert Guerrero. Marquez, who lost to Mayweather in 2009, was very impressed with Mayweather but also said that Guerrero is a good fighter and that there is no shame in losing to Mayweather.Comment

Marquez also said after the Canelo fight that Mayweather is invincible right now.As far as Marquez goes, here's what he had to say about Floyd earlier this year:
"I don't want to fight him again because everyone saw what happened in 2009 and I think it's better if he goes his way and I go mine,"

So what? They don't have the wins to be rated that high, or even close to it. It doesn't matter why they don't. Between them, they've fought one great fighter and he won by a stoppage.
This is the most overused excuse for someone with a **** résumé, and I simply don't understand why people use it so much. If they don't have the wins, no matter what the reason is, then they don't deserve to be rated with or higher than those who do have the wins and names.
It doesn't matter what the era is like, and no it's not their fault that heavyweight sucks, but that makes no difference. If they aren't beating great, or even good, fighters then they don't deserve to be ranked highly because you can only be rated high by beating great fighters. It's that simple.
It's sucks for Wlad, because he could arguably be higher, but unfortunately he is in a ****ty period, arguably the worst in heavyweight history, but its just a fact of this era. We can't just randomly rank them higher simply because 'its not their fault'. We don't know how they would fare against much better opposition because they haven't fought great opposition. Well, we do know that Vitali got stopped by the one great they fought.
If they don't have the résumé and wins, they don't deserve the accolades of those who do. Rating them above those with much greater wins and more of them because 'its not their fault' is the lamest excuse of all and I always hear it being said in a whiny little girls voice because that's the type of excuse it is.Comment

I agree with Froch and maybe Rigo being too high, though Rigo beating Donaire as he did would be as impressive as if Froch beat Ward in a dominating fashion, so I can sort of understand that one, but Marquez?
Aside from his long reign as a top p4p fighter in his own right and all the other champions he has beaten, he currently holds the best win in boxing bar none. Rigo just got put into the top ten on one win over Donaire, Mayweather cemented the top spot with his win over Canelo. Neither of those opponents is close to being as great as Pac, and despite what anyone might say, Pac had just come off a dominating win over a young, undefeated p4p champion himself.
Marquez, even without that win, could still arguably be in the top five or six. But, he just beat someone who was undoubtedly one of the top two best in the sport. No one else in the top three can say anything like that. He more than deserves his spot.Comment
