  • Comments Thread For: Jhonny Gonzalez Plans 130 Move in No Mares Rematch

WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47KOs) is waiting to get word if a deal gets finalized for a rematch with Abner Mares (26-1-1, 14KOs). Last month Gonzalez scored a big upset with a first round TKO of Mares, who exercised his rematch clause option.

The Mares rematch is being targeted for December 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where the main event will feature a welterweight fight between WBA champion Adrien Broner and Argentine challenger Marcos Maidana.

hey johnny if you don't take the rematch. you will be stripped. mares has a concrete clause.plus you can make the most money in a mares rematch than with whoever you fight at 130. don't be a dummy. be in that ring and on that big boxing stage dec 14th. mares will win.

Most def Jhonny deserves a respectable payday for the re-match. If he gets low-balled again, by all means move up and try to secure a better deal.

At this point he should fight who makes him the most money, he deserves it after a huge upset. Got to think more money in Mares than Gamboa.
