I remember reading the same thing before Cotto jumped ship to GB for Mayweather.
Cotto Makes it Clear: Bob Arum Will Always Promote Me
"The only thing I want to let you know is that Bob Arum was, is and always will be my promoter. No matter what direction I decide to take my career, he will remain. [Bob Arum] is the person who made me who I am,"
WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is starting to get a little annoyed with the continued rumors regarding his possible parting of ways from promotional company Top Rank. Last Saturday's rematch with Antonio Margarito was the final fight of Cotto's contract with Top Rank. Even before Cotto stopped Margarito in nine rounds, rumors began to circulate that Cotto was going to leave Top Rank in order to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 5.Comment

Bob and Cotto always got along. Cotto had to jump ship to get a couple fights he wanted, but also had the respect to come back. Bob always got him big fights and big paydays.
He was even getting $4 Million a pop for regular HBO dates at one time.Comment
