Oquendo pulled out. It was apparently over money issues and a supposed injury.
“It won’t go for two reasons,” said Oquendo. “First I have an injury to one of my knuckles on my left hand and lost a couple of weeks of training. In addition, the economic part is not the best. I didn’t like it…and I had everything against me. If that fight happened I would have had to win by knockout because the decision would be given to him. I was going to be a stepping-stone. The kid may be a star, but he’s not invincible and was going to have to deal with me.” -

Ya kinda gotta see Oquendos point. TR are setting Loma up to be a superstar (though I can't see them making best use of Rigo) and it can't be much fun being reduced to stepping stone status, specially if the money ain't great. If he was to win it's like - wow, he beat an overhyped debutante! To lose (as expected) would essentially reduce him to gatekeeper status.Oquendo pulled out. Still, I've gotta say I am very much looking forward to Vasyls pro debut, but I really hope he doesn't get stuck in the the same position as Rigo (ie basically too skilled for his own good).Comment
