Is Barrera gonna lure Pac into 135lbs?

I'm just curious here. Let's say he beats Chavez and get's the belt for 135lbs. You think he'll say, that he'll only fight Pacquiao if he goes up to 135lbs. This would sound ****** considering it's not Manny that needs to fight him, it's he who needs Manny. Although Manny won't say no to the fight since he believes even at 200lbs, he should have Barrera's number. The only problem I see here is that, if Manny does lose his speed which was such a great asset vs Barrera, I see Barrera having the skills to outbox Manny. Perhaps Barrera is trying to use everything but skills to beat Manny in the rematch. He's trying to either wait until Manny loses that speed through time or lure him into a way he can get Manny caught in a trap. I just hope Manny and the people around him are smart enough to not fall for it.

In my analysis. PAC can jump up to 135 and fight JUST BARRERA-*****, at least for now. I admit that PAC has already pushed himself to his current limit at 130 and he should go back down at 126 and get all those belts.

But if PAC goes to 135, this is the probable what-ifs. I'll enumerate them in a per-fighter basis.

Barrera - it is likely he will only challenge PAC at 135, he believes that PAC will slow down when he goes up at 135. He believes he can outbox PAC at 135. He believes he can stave off MAnny with the jab at 135.

On the other hand, MAB fighting at 135 is a BLOATED AND EXTREMELY SLOW MAB. A very good target pratice. he may have a bit more power, but nothing out of the extraordinary.


PAC - PAC fighting at 135 has it's disadvantages, he may or may not lose some of his speed. The cure to this would be to simply work on his footwork. PAC fights at 140 and he can make 135. RIght now 135 isn't much of a difference if it's only MAB he will have to face. If PAC feels he still has it at 135, then he may go for it or he may go back down.

Barrera won't be able to box Manny, Barrera isn't a boxer but a slugger and he's no exception to the rule. PAC is.

If the fight goes at 135, he might face a MAB which is bloated but slower. It's a trade off between comfort and speed.

If it's Barrera he'll be fighting at 135 then he will win. Only Barrera. Then go back to superfeather and get Barrera's belt there too.

I think Manny and MAB are too small for 135, but we'll see when Barrera takes on Chavez. That's gonna be an awesome fight to watch.

I don't think it matters where they fight, because it's the style and speed that favors Manny.

I agree. MAB and Pac are almost the same size, size being equal Pac still has the advanteges in style, speed, power, stamina and being fresher than MAB. Style makes fight -- add to that Pac's other advantages and it's a no brainer.

If MAB lures Pac at 135, there's a good possibility that Pac agrees to a fight and then come down again to 130. Pac weighed 140 against Erik last week and showed that he could fight at that level.

Barrera's NOT killing himself to make weight. He's one of those rare boxers that fights at the same weight he walks around at.
In his third fight against Morales at 130 lbs, Barrera came into the ring on fight night weighing 132 lbs, only 2 lbs more than he was at the weigh in the day before.
Morales on the other hand came into the ring at 143 lbs after weighing in at 130 the day before. Morales has trouble making 130, Barrera doesn't, 130 is only a couple of lbs less than his natural walking around weight.
He'll move up to fight Chavez at 135 but I see him coming into the ring the same as he'll weigh in at, 135 pounds, maybe even less.
