    A couple of things:

Mayweather is still building his legacy, which will continue to grow once he's left the game; in fact, it will grower even bigger because they're won't be anyone as good to replace him for several years, plus he'll retire undefeated, and with all the records at compubox and at the Box Office. Living Legend who is still climbing. He's so ******** good, they don't even know who to match him up with at this point. After he adds another 3 to 5 fights with big names and or at different weights and perhaps Pacquiao, etc....it will not only be a great resume, but the greatest resume of a small fighter in the history of the sport.

I've asked this question and nobody has ever answered it:

Since 2007, who has the better resume?

Oscar - top p4p guy and future hof'er in biggest ppv ever.

Hatton - undeated champion and top p4p guy and future hofer

Marquez - obliterated #3 p4p guy and future hofer.

Mosley - Champion and top p4p guy and future hofer

Ortiz - Champion at the time

Cotto - went up in weight to fight him for championship and Cotto future hofer.

    Guerrero - Champion at time.

Canelo - undefeated hands down champ that Floyd went up to fight and probably future hofer. He's only 23

Who over the last 6 years comes even close to this along with bringing a superior record and performance.

Floyd is getting top 3 P4P and TGE comments now. By the time he's done and kids 20 years on sites like this will call him not only the greatest boxer ever, but perhaps a top 5 athlete in any sport, ever.

SRR's resume pretty unimpressive when you look at it closely. He just fought so many fights for so long that it gets embellished. Take a look if you don't believe me...

WHAT HAPPENs IF THEY CANNOT LAND ON FLOYD ?

And that is not a silly question because its Floyds greatest skill .
Anybody gunna have a go at that , that's allowing Floyd his greatest strength in not getting hit .

Now if they don't put anything substantial on Floyd he beats them all , and that is indeed a possibility that they cant catch him .

Each of the big names have losses , each of the big names were given fits by guys Floyd would school , so all the tangibles are there for this to be very possible .

Apparently, British boxing fans agree with Hopkins assessment. Even before the Alvarez fight.

Mayweather Ranks 3rd on BoxNation All-Time Great Poll

BoxNation's subscribers have given Floyd Mayweather a ringing endorsement ahead of his September 14th showdown with Saul Alvarez by voting him into a list of the greatest boxers of all time. Mayweather meets his Mexican rival at the MGM Grand in a WBC and WBA unification contest that has clearly captured the popular imagination of British boxing fans.

The poll was conducted online earlier this month and is topped by Muhammad Ali, with Sugar Ray Robinson a close second followed by Mayweather, who is the only active champion in the top ten.

The meeting with Alvarez, 42-0-1 (30), should help cement Mayweather's legacy, assuming of course that the 44-0 (26) Las Vegas-based boxer prevails against his younger rival.

BoxNation General Manager Jim McMunn believes the outcome of the poll proves that the mercurial 36-year-old will pull in the punters when he takes on the 23-year-old WBA titlist, who is known as "Canelo". “This is an indication of how highly rated Floyd Mayweather is by the fans, he is a living legend," said McMunn.

“However there are many who believe Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will one day join Floyd on the elite list. The 14th September could be Mayweather’s biggest challenge to date and we are thrilled to be bringing you this massive event on BoxNation. Boxing just doesn't get any bigger than this.”

Mayweather edged out Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson and Roberto Duran, amongst others, to take up his top three spot and underlined his status as the biggest boxing star on the planet, but he will have his hands full come the 14th as Alvarez bids to get his own legacy underway.

The full results are as follows:

        1. Muhammad Ali

        2. Sugar Ray Robinson

        3. Floyd Mayweather Jnr

        4. Sugar Ray Leonard

        5. Rocky Marciano

        6. Mike Tyson

        7. Joe Louis

        8. Roy Jones Jnr

        9. Roberto Duran

        10. Joe Calzaghe

everything was good, till the last part....

SRR started at lightweight and went like 125-1 in his prime,,, he beat future ATGs in their prime,, was the greatest welter ever, after he retired and cameback as an older past prime fighter, he still won the middleweight title 5 times.

SRR is the greatest of all time.... How one can say his resume is "pretty unimpressive" is beyond crazy talk.....

everything else in your post was good though

Alot of boxing fans and respected members of the boxing press were saying the EXACT same thing about RJJ post Ruiz pre-Tarver II. One knockout loss could change EVERYTHING.

Because Duran did not say it yesterday , Floyds career is still rising how can Duran over shadow Bhop just in the fact Bhop is in the now and has seen a lot more of Floyd for his comment , than what Duran did for his comment .

In simplistic terms , Duran has only read 1/2 the Floyd book and his opinion is dated , and its not just Bhop , lots of very astute boxing scribes commentators fighters and trainers are claim these types of things with Floyd , name a single renoun boxing personality that aggress with Duran on this ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,cant find one right !
