this is more accurate than the TS post. In fact, I think the stellar years Matthysse, Golovkin, Stevenson and Kovalev have had up to this point have proved that yes power is one of the key components to winning fights and intimidating opponents. Great power can only go so far if 1) an opponent is not there to be hit (a la Mayweather) or 2) an opponent can take a mean punch (a la Danny Swift)

A little more power would have definitely helped Paulie against broner lol

lucas a good boxer...........(overrating the fighters skills all because you're excited about the power they posses)

ggg has a good jab & great power. he's explosive with it & he's decent with cutting the ring.........downside to his game. doesn't move his head, a bit slow, below average foot speed. can be out worked (if he can't get his power to you)

I think you mean power doesn't ALWAYS win fights which is true, but it does win fights quite often, even when the puncher is less skilled :

You don't know much about GGG if you think all he has is power.

Wilder has power and I'm not "excited" about his future. GGG shows real talent. That combo to knock out Macklin was a thing of beauty.

That's why the Stevens fight is going to be interesting. We need to know more about GGG. He gets hit too often. Is it because he wants to trade? Can he slip punches against quality fighters?

Re foot speed. We'll have to see. Timing, anticipation, patience counts here as well.

70's Foreman pretty much relied on nothing but his power to win fights and did so until he was outsmarted by Ali.
