I think Cotto would make more money fighting in MSG against either of them two. 20+K. I doubt HBO gets a cut of the gate

HBO will net the same amount of viewers for Cotto against either guy. They will get 1.1-1.5 million viewers. So HBO doesn't really care. Honestly Cotto-Martinez is much more attractive for A). the casual fan and B). the network

They're both popular, and both on the downside of their careers so it'll be a competitive match I think.

GGG is on the upside and hitting his peak. GGG/Cotto would yeah, be bad business for HBO and Cotto. Cotto can still be marketable losing to the lineal MW king, moving up in class.

Getting Good Boy'd and yeah, that's a blow. Good thing you aren't Cotto's manager and HBO's matchmaker

Miguel Cotto and sergio Martinez are not equal ppv draws. Sergio was on 1 ppv, 475k ppv. Cotto has 600k with margs 2, 1.25 with manny and 1.5mil with floyd.

Cotto is the biggest fighter in NYC now. He fights in the main arena of MSG while Sergio fights in the 5k seat theatre.

HBO wants a GGG cotto ppv in NYC. easier fight for GGG and he prob looks a lot better than he would against sergio. Crowd would be hotter.

I'm trying to figure out your point?

I'm a big Cotto fan, so his numbers are already known. GGG nor Martinez are PPV draws. Martinez still has PPV experience, GGG doesn't.

        Cotto-Martinez is still competitive

        Cotto-GGG is not

I sincerely doubt they would honestly offer that mismatch as a PPV. The only way it's doable if Cotto gets past Martinez. Even then, why would Cotto accept being just a PPV stepping stone to someone like GGG. Cotto vs Sergio or GGG would be a complete sellout.

It was a sellout for nearly if not all his MSG fights. Sergio is the bigger name and winnable for Cotto. HBO can still squeeze money out of Cotto. Why would HBO feed Cotto to GGG just to get murdered. It makes no sense. To set up GGG vs Martinez on PPV and get 300K buys instead of Cotto vs Martinez that'll probably reach 600k+

I'm not following your logic here

I think we are agreeing. I think HBO wants to match cotto and sergio on ppv, have cotto win, and then match ggg with cotto in MSG because it will be more lucrative for all entitites involved IMO.

That's not free to Showtime subscribers. It's a PPV, probably due to budget issues. So it costs you the same whether you have SHO or not

Cotto is not looking at GGG at all. That fight aint happening. Right now the options after Delvin are Marquez-Bradley winner or Martinez, with the Martinez fight being the front runner because of the titles he has at 160.

I'd rather see Cotto vs JMM to be honest, I just want someone to put JMM to sleep. The guy is obviously juiced up and he refuses to give Manny a rematch, I'm not even a Manny fan but JMM is a straight up b*tch at this point. I'm going out on a limb now and saying it doesn't matter who Cotto faces JMM/Bradely/Martinez Cotto will beat them all (unless martinez is at 160.)

                  so who does hbo have?

i don't believe they have haye vs fury(might be wrong) are they showing froch vs groves?

if that's pathetic for sho then hbo lineup is horrible all they have is ggg vs stevens and chavez vs vera both mismatches

least khan vs alexander is competitive

They have a lot of cards left this year, I don't feel like listing them all. Some of it looks trash, some of it looks good, you never know. 3 of the best fights of the year were Bradley Prov, Figueroa Arakawa and Lara Angulo, all supposed to be mismatches.

Excessive, but I like Cotto and am glad to be seeing him make some bank before he hangs 'em up.
