So add up the true dynamics at play and is to easy to see how matches are so different with different opponents , power is only 60% of most KOs , timing and position is the other 40% .
don't forget the tony weeks factor. 20 percent chance that he saves your ass and gives you a break if you do get hurt. then you can stagger to the wrong corner and put your mouthpiece back in. what a schooling!

I'm glad this thread was brought up.

One of the reasons I know how good Garcia is, is because I know how good Morales is.

Morales impressed the **** out of me how he was able to outsmart and hurt Maidana despite how much of a shell he was of his old self, and I was even more impressed when he gave Garcia, who was one of the strongest toughest young fighters I've seen, such a close fight.

The Morales-Garcia fight wasn't a testament to how bad Garcia was- he fought his ass off, and would have destroyed any lesser 140lber that night, it was a testament to how good Morales is.

Erik Morales is a dragon amongst men, a legend that couldn't be overlooked even if he was nothing of what he used to be, fighting out of shape in weight classes he didn't belong and standing his ground against the best.

I think Garcia has just improved a lot in the last couple of fights.

I gotta say it looked like matthysse fell in love with his own power. He kept trying to load up on shots and knock out danny with one shot.

Gotta respect garcia though, his chin is legit. He took some flush hard shots.

Styles make fights and Morales had experience and craftiness that Mathysee has not gained yet and a lot of that plays into the delivery, angle, timing, and snap of a punch. There is no proven science to the sweet science and things that aren't supposed to make sense or add up, often do. Garcia really does things with his technique that can go unnoticed, little ways he moves and gets into position to punch. But winning the title can make you better and it did him. Mathysee is a decent boxer when he throws straight punches but power is his wheelhouse and he gives it all to that and accepts whatever happens. That punch that sent Garcia's mouthpiece flying would have taken out a LOT of guys. It was then that Garcia revealed to have one of the best, if not the best chin in Boxing.

I think Matthysse did hurt Danny and I would bet the house that Mathysse would beat Morales if they fought.

Or not. Never bet the house. IN BOXING, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN! Huge punchers do not always deliver because A) the opponent's game plan is carried out to perfection or B) the opponent has a solid chin. Boxing is not an exact science. There are too many variables. There are guys with solid chins who have been stopped by light punchers because they did not see the punch or punches that they were nailed with and there are guys with weaker chins that have held up to bigger punchers because they were able to see the punch and better brace for it. You will learn this over time.
