These are just my observations opinion. Thought I'd share. Some is as posted in another thread.
On Cotto's vs Canelo's performance against May.
1. Cotto had a much more effective, realistic game plan based on utilizing his strengths. Controlled pressure and spurts of seemingly uncontrolled aggression to trouble Mayweather. He KNEW he had no chance at outboxing May. He cut of the ring way more effectively as well. Once he tired, well May took over from the 10th R on, but that's another story.
2. Cotto showed way more grit and determination. He got tired, and May always adjusts, so as the fight progressed he became less and less effective, but Canelo didn't do jack from R1. Canelo's befuddled look speaks volumes. He may have had youth on his side, but he didn't have the experience to take on the old king fox, Mayweather.
3. Either Canelo misjudged his abilities, or it was his teams hubris thinking he could stand and box with Mayweather. ****** game plan. They didn't have a plan B either.
4. Where was his supposedly "great strength"? May was more troubled with Cotto's attempts at bullying than anything Canelo did. He had size, but I perceived a weaker Canelo than in the Trout fight. Take it for what it's worth.
5. May is an ATG. I dislike his persona, and I wish someone out there could give us a more entertaining fight against him, but it's not going to happen. He's perfected his craft. He is a 10/10 on the elusive scale. I thought Canelo brought more to the table, I was wrong. He never really tried to adjust.
6. Some will argue Floyd chose to fight Cotto as he did, I choose to believe Cotto was just a better fighter that night than Canelo last night. Even though both were outclassed, Cotto gave a full account of himself despite being a rather ragged shell of the fighter he was.
