Things I learned watching May-Canelo with casual/non knowing fans. (Participate)

Here are some notes from casual fans while watching the fight:

    1. No Mayweather fight means anything to non-boxing fans unless he fights Pacman.

    2. Mayweather-Pacquiao fight not happening was 150% Mayweather's fault because he was scared.

    3. Who's Bob Arum?

    4. Canelo is just some handpicked scrub

    5. Canelo is fat and out of shape (because he doesn't have a Mosley-esque body type). They'd probably say the same about Barerra and Morales in their prime because they didn't look like body builders.

    6. Rehydrate after a weigh in? What's that? So they eat a bunch of donuts and pizza?

    7. Pacquaio only fought guys he felt he might not win against and really challenged himself vs the best P4P fighters. It doesn't matter that I can't name them.

    8. This fight is fixed and Mayweather uses steroids (because he looks in shape). Any fighter who is in shape is on the juice. Cano and Molina are real natural because they don't look ripped.

    9. Canelo needs to lose weight and move down a couple of weight classes (this being said in the first round before he tired from missing later in the fight).

    10. Mayweather should have told Pacman to go ahead and be on steroids and beat him.

    11. Fighters suck for complaining about low blows and headbutts. In soccer and football, when you get hit, you pick yourself back up and retaliate. To which I replied that he's talking about a team sport vs a one on one combat sport. And they say that doesn't matter.

    12. Where are the Ali's? These guys suck.

    13. I could probably "win a draw" with Canelo like that judge scored it..(win a draw?)

It's impossible to give your insight on a fight besides "He will probably win" to someone who doesn't know the jab can be done in more than one way.

LOL. That sounds like they just regurgitated what they saw on the 1 minute segment of boxing that gets shown on ESPN First Take.

I told this one girl that Canelo may not make weight and she responded "underweight or overweight".

          I hate casual fans,,,

thats why i only watch it with my brother and cousin because we are hardcore,,,,,,

Too much explaining to do,,, plus i get embarrassed when i have to explain all the crap in boxing like multiple champs in each division, and how come guys dont fight,, etc......

Boxing is such a great sport, but it is a pathetic joke in terms of other sports due to the lack of any authority or single set of rule book, or even just having top guys fight each other,,,

Tell me about it! A big fight comes around and suddenly everyone thinks they are a boxing expert. They type that think that boxing started and ended with Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

I had a girl ask me

"Why is Amir Khan in a suit? shouldn't he be fighting?"

                  That's gonna take some beating.

you must have responded to her query with a puzzled face and a Huh? That's normally my response to those types of questions.
