Comments Thread For: Team Carlos Molina Targets Saul Alvarez Showdown

Luis DeCubas Sr., the promoter for newly crowned IBF junior middleweight champion Carlos Molina (22-5-2, 6KOs), would like to match his fighter against Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs). Both fighters were in action on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Molina captured the IBF belt with a twelve round decision win over Ishe Smith, while Canelo lost a majority decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

    I wouldn't be surprised.
He has a belt, Canelo wants one and Molina one of the most robbed fighters on the planet.
Saul would be wise to take it...maybe get C.J Ross again so he can call it a wrap

@ the CJ Ross comment. Yeah it would be a way to get Canelo another belt after losing tonight. If Molina fights Canelo the way he did Smith tonight I see Canelo taking it.

Molina beats Canelo easier than ishe smith

I actually had the smith Molina fight 7-5 for Molina, smith really showed good defense but he can't counter very well out of the shell D and Molina was active for all 12rds

can't remember the last fighter from IL to have a belt lol

Only belt open to him too. Floyd got the WBA/WBC belt, WBO belt is going out to either Vanes or Boo Boo Bear.

Canelo vs Molina coming up later this year...or next

I think Canelo should take this fight at the end of the year if Showtime has it in their budget and finish the year with a title. Of course Floyd's belts will be up for grabs soon as I don't think there is anyone left that he'll take on at 154 that will bring him a substantial paycheck. Good win by Molina tonight, Ishe is such a disappointment, I don't know why he wouldn't let his hands go. Also, where the heck was Eddie Mustafah Muhammad? Could of sworn he was Ishe's trainer, but Floyd's cousin was working the corner.

What a dreadfully boring fight that would be.

Was Mustafah working Ashley's corner? I don't remember.
I doubt either the WBC/WBA take Floyds titles away, even if he fights at WW again... WBA will give a regular champ at most while FLoyd holds a super title....WBC won't move unless it's to give it back to Canelo.....which they most likely will do.
All Canelo has to do is wait...he'll have another title shot fall into his lap
