    It's a good win.

Not to be on that hindsight ish, but I can't rationalize why Alvarez was getting put on this pedestal. He had a close fight with Trout, and outside of that has done ish. I don't see him fairing too well once he doesn't enjoy his usual 15 pound weight advantage at MW.

It was a great win, if for nothing else but gap in age. Canelo is never going to be any sort of ATG, but he was as credible an opponent as anyone could ask for and he will, no doubt, become a champion again. Canelo's future success will add more and more luster to this win.

On a different note, it is apparent to me that the ONLY guy on the horizon who can give Floyd a serious challenge is Amir Khan. He really is the only guy out there with the necessary attributes to take it to Floyd (superior hand and foot speed, combination punching and endurance). He doesn't have Floyd's craft, but he is an excellent boxer and he is probably superior to Floyd in the aforementioned attributes. His foot speed alone would be something that Floyd has never seen, and his only serious flaw, his chin, wouldn't be such a vulnerability against Floyd because Floyd doesn't unload enough to hurt him IMO.

Seriously though it is an okay win, the value of it could go up in the future if Canelo shows that he can perform well against good boxers who are not Floyd Mayweather Jr. A bit like how the value of Mayweather's win over Marquez went up after he outboxed, and then knocked the **** out of Pacquiao.
Thread could have ended right here.

this is one of floyd's greatest wins according to some and its not even on par with leonards over kalule. do people even mention that fight when they talk about leonard? no. that's why i said standards have dropped badly which they have.

It was a good win. I was shocked how he fought in the pocket against Canelo and made him look dumb at times.

Great win considering people said he would duck Canelo before they scheduled the fight.
