The word thru the industryas you state it is nothing more than a rumor that Fat Dan Rafael pulled out of his ass. Other bloggers repeated it and it became a fact in the minds of gullible fans. Showtime is not guaranteeing Floyd anything other than one-sixth of their contract amount to broadcast his fight; and despite the bull**** that has been circulated by bloggers like Fat Dan that people automatically accept as truth, I am absolutely certain that they are not paying him $200 million for six fights just as the WWE didn't pay him $20 million for a 10 minute stage wrestling match against the Big Show, in spite of the reports.

The guarantee comes from the promoter and whatever amount Showtime is contracted to pay him (likely $10 to $15 million) is included in Mayweather's $41 million guarantee. GBP has a agreement with Mayweather in which they serve as the promoter or record for a flat fee, collect all the revenue from the PPV, closed circuit, live gate, sponsorships, etc. After taking their cut and paying all the expenses, including the other fighters on the card, the remaining profits are turned over to Mayweather Promotions. How do I know this: because I read about the deal that Mayweather has with GBP in a legitimate, factual article that was published over a year ago.

There are always speculations which quickly become fact on this site and with boxing fans generally. There is NO $41 mill purse. This amount was arrived at by some imaginative reporter for one of the money magazines, I read it a couple of weeks ago but paid no attention as to whom it was. He made the most favourable assumptions for every item he could think of, beginning with the SHOWTIME "guarantee" of $32 mill, which itself has never been confirmed, It also is speculation, because the report issued st the time SPECIFIED that the figures and the terms of the actual contract were CONFIDENTIAL. Reports speculated that it "could" amount to as much as $250 mill for a maximum of a 6 fights..BUT...that each fight would be taken on it's own merits. About a week after the agreement was announced, there was an article on this site which uncovered the few details which were known, and I've mentioned them above. (I have a vague idea that the article was by Jake Donovan, certainly by one of the senior writers).

So we don't know. Now there are certain expenses. If, as I've seen written (probably another speculation but close to the mark-I think) Haymon gets 15%, (assuming the $41 mill) this will amount to $6 mill, Oscar will get at least 25% (Top Rank gets 28% from Pacquiao, and other promoters take up to 30-33%, so 25% is comparatively modest) which is $10 mill. Then there is the gate of $19 mill and the expected PPV of $100-130 mill.

I have no idea if Haymon's and Oscar's shares come from the total amount taken in, or just the "purse". Assuming $130 mill PPV, the PPV/Cable people take a min of 50% and the IRS and local taxes take 42%. And there are trainer and Team fees probably 10-15%.

So far the take comes to about 120-130% so Mayweather owes them money....... I'm kidding of course, but I'm just pointing up the intricacies of boxing economics.

Someone will doubtless come on-site who knows all about it (at least he'll say he does) and tell us all about Mayweather's bank balance and the exact dollar amount he pays for his ***ellery, not to mention how much his kids' support costs him etc.etc.

I'm very sceptical of any reports which purport to know what a top boxer earns. An instructive thing to do might be to look up on the internet the duties and responsibilities of a Promoter. It won't tell you how much Mayweather is going to earn, but it'll show you that whatever the amount a promoter gets, he earns it.

And....... although the majority of the PPV money comes in fairly quickly, it's common knowledge that it takes over a year for all the streams to arrive and be counted. I'm sure I've forgotten several major incomes or expenses (like the advertising and the many cities tours and TV press reports, Commission fees) but it all depends on which amounts it all comes from, and what the total amount will be...which we'll never know, so it doesn't matter.

There will be a lot of money around anyway on this exciting weekend, and those doing the work will get paid.

One thing I noticed about Floyd is that he tends to lie about how much Money he makes. Is he that insecure that despite being the highest paid athlete in all of sports he has to exaggerate his purse amounts on top of that too? I remember him claiming that he made 60mil for fighting Mosley.

I dont see this fight doing 2mil. Canelo isn't close to being the star that Oscar was. He's a big star in Mexico but not here in the states just yet. Most casuals only know him as the red headed boxer from Mexico. I see this fight doing 1.3 - 1.5mil

According to Stephen A. Smith from espn, he thinks Floyd is really his own boss. He thinks Saturdays ppv is a Mayweather promotion ppv. It's a golden boy ppv. Along with Mayweather promotions. The day Floyd does a ppv for 1 of his fights without golden boy that's when he's his own boss.

Say the PPV does 1.6 million thats around 120 million, + a 20 million gate revenue, + sponsors at around another 20 million

showtime gets half off the top so that leaves around 90 million to pay out the fighters, they;ll turn about a 20 million dollar profit if it all works out
