All Time lists are mythological and opinion based, and the list above is what the thousands of fans at ESPN think based on the options given to them. Who knows, but as far as fighters that trenscended the sport, the names above do represent a pretty good list. Jack Johnson first dominant African American fighter; Dempsey was the man during the roaring 20's, Ali of course was the "The Greatest" in many minds. SRR and his record. SRL who carried the torch after Ali; Mayweather Jr. the bext Boxer of this new Century so far; Duran for all he did...etc..

I think 2 important things can be determined by the results:

ESPN has no idea who are the best boxers of all time so its taken with a grain of salt.

Clearly the casual sports fan feels very different about floyd than hardcore fans. This may explain why he sells so much. Casual fans believe they are paying to watch one of the 5 greatest boxers ever.
