Comments Thread For: Mayweather: I Felt Rusty With Guerrero, I'lll Be Sharper

Floyd Mayweather Jr. enjoyed a triumphant ring return this past May, soundly outboxing Robert Guerrero in their welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The bout marked his first ring appearance in exactly 52 weeks, having previously outpointed Miguel Cotto before serving a brief prison stint and taking off the rest of the 2012 boxing season.

The win ran Mayweather’s record to 44-0 (26KO) while solidifying his place as the best fighter in the world. But for all of the talk of the sport’s biggest attraction being obsessed with maintaining his “0”, mere perfection wasn’t even enough on that night. Instead, it’s a performance upon which he plans to build as he prepares for his epic pay-per-view clash with unbeaten Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KO) in the very same ring on Saturday. What? A positive sounding quote from Money May? Mutual respect make for good fights too! Come on already Saturday!

Floyd didn't look rusty at all vs Guerrero
very hard to see 1 clear rd Guerrero won in that fight
Floyd seemed to go easy on him, looked like he coulda KO'd him later
if anything, Guerrero had slightly more speed than Alvarez
but that didn't matter because he lacked the pop to get respect
it's the other way around for Alvarez
fighting a slow guy will definitely make Floyd look sharper
Alvarez will be made a fool of in this fight

Alvarez is a lot faster than Guerrero.

relative to a Floyd fight? no way
Alvarez' size "advantage" is what's gonna get him lit up in this fight
he'll look sluggish and won't ever get any rhythm going
his hands and feet will both go in slow motion compared to Floyd
expect Alvarez to have a much lower output vs Floyd than Guerrero did

Alvaerez is exceptionally faster than Ghost. And I dont mind saying He is faster than the slow handed Mayweather who fought Ghost. When Floyd fights southpaws, he has a habit of relying too much on his right hand, and it looks like a cannon that he lunges. Its very slow. Against Ortho fighters, he is noticeably faster. But Canelo has that Pacman speed. Its just that Pac throws so many that it makes his speed stand out. With Canelo he is so big and bulky, people constantly put him in a catagory of a slow, bulky, mexican brawler like Ortiz. Alvarez is fast as HELL, and he throws mortal combat punches. Few can pay attention to detail, but I know boxing.

If that was rusty and Mayweather looks better here, then boxing gods help Canelo Alvarez.

We'll see, Mayweather's never looked great moving up to this weight.

I can't even compare the Baldomir that fought against Mayweather vs the Baldomir that fought against Canelo. The later one was shot to pieces.

Am I the only one who realize the error that Canelo fought Alfonso Gomez on the card Mayweather fought Ortiz, not Baldomir? Hmm. Anyways, nice to see Floyd say something positive. Can't wait for Saturday!
