If he becomes the undisputed champion then the heavyweight division should just cease to exist. It would become the laughingstock of the sport.
If it didn't cease to exist when Buster Douglas became the champ, we're far from having the case here.

I don't understand why you like to underestimate Povetkin so much. He's the third guy in the division, only behind the Klitschkos. He was a brilliant amateur. Olympic gold medalist, world amateur champion and European amateur champion x2. He is undefeated, 26-0. He beat Chagaev for the paper title, the guy whose only other loss is Wladimir. It wasn't a gift decision against Huck like you claim, it was a close fight which Povetkin won. Seriously, no objective and unbiased person would give it to Huck.

If Povetkin defeats Wlad, you can hate him all you want but he'll rightfully become the world heavyweight champion. You are either very biased or lack the knowledge if you discredit Povetkin like this.

I agree that povetkin is underrated. seems like most judge him only on his poor performance against huck. hes looked much better before and since that fight. anyone can have an off night. I think hes going to give wlad a much tougher fight than people think

Because he lost to Marco Huck. Not just because I say it; Cliff Rold for example scored that fight 7 rounds to 5 for Huck.

He may be the 3rd best heavyweight in the world but I just can't take him seriously as a credible threat to Klitschko.

Pusvetkin looked better against who, Rahman, Boswell?

Yea Povetkin doesn't inspire much confidence, really the only scenario I can come up with where he wins is he makes it to the end and gets an egregious hometown decision.

I think Wlad jabs him to death and if Wlad decides to throw the right hand (which he may or may not do) that would likely spell doom for Povetkin if he starts dropping it especially after getting tenderized by the jab.

I think chageav is a little better than huck and povetkin beat him convincingly. hes looked quicker and had better stamina in his fights before and after huck. I just dont think he was in good condition for that fight. I think we'll see him at his best against wlad

Well he didn't have to against Audley - but troubled him in round 2 and knocked him out in round 3. Not sure how you want to fault Haye for that performance.

He landed more power shots on Wlad than the other way around and tried to cut the distance by getting inside, but ate too many jabs to actually do anything, but he did try. And don't forget who stood with his hands by his side and invited the other man to take a free shot - It certainly wasn't Wlad. He fought like a ***** too and didn't want to engage either. Don't even try and say he didn't.

Haye did exchange with Valuev in the beginning of the fight and late in the fight - but it was of course mostly fought on the outside.

Regardless, no one should say that majority of fans and experts didn't give Haye a bigger chance to win than Povetkin. If Haye had won, it wouldn't even be THAT big of an upset. With Povetkin it would.

Disagree, I thought the fight was close but Povetkin definitely deserved the victory.

Povetkin was strong early on and he definitely won those early rounds, then Huck started landing his overhand rights and started to take control for a bit. When Povetkin realized that Huck could only throw his overhand right, every time he got close to Huck he would bend over at the waist because Huck had no other punches to hit him with other than that overhand right. This neutralized Huck, because Huck had difficulties landing uppercuts and was content with throwing straight right hands at Povetkin while Povetkin was bent over and he had limited success doing that.

Povetkin isn't given enough credit for his intelligence in that fight.

To be honest, the only moments Huck had in that fight were in the later rounds when Povetkin was clearly gassed, and Huck managed to stun him a couple times.

Also the Compubox scores prove that this was a close fight as Povetkin landed 7 more punches than Huck.

It was definitely not one of Povetkin's best fights, but it wasn't a robbery either.

Btw, does anyone know with who he is currently sparring?
I know that one of sparring partners is Latvian prospect Mairis Briedis around the same size as Povetkin
