Is Zab a livelier underdog than he was before?
When the fight was first being talked about, I was leaning toward Zab to pull off a shock upset because I thought Floyd may be sleeping on him. I thought some of the pound for pound talk and thoughts of walking in and breaking Zab’s glass chin may have been on Floyd’s mind, and that he would get over confident.
Since then we saw Zab make a fool of himself in a performance that was a disgrace to himself, the titles he holds, and everyone that watched. He came in unprepared and showed little heart and character in losing to little known Carlos Baldomir.
I thought Zab’s showing in that fight was awful, but in the end, how much does it change what will actually transpire in the ring with Floyd? It was clear (as sad as it was) that Zab was completely unprepared coming into his last fight. If anything, that should give him more hunger and motivation to come in sharp and ready against Floyd.
And is it possible that in all of this, Floyd could have the idea that it will be an even bigger walk in the park than he originally thought seeing Zab outpointed by a fringe contender?
Floyd’s a smart fighter, so I’m sure he’ll come prepared, but I can’t help but wonder that in some weird way this last embarrassment for Judah may actually help him in coming in more prepared and hungry for this fight.
