Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez (51-2-2, 28KOs) stressed that he wants to defend his title once again in his homeland of Argentina. This past April, Martinez fought before a crowd of 40,000 fans in Argentina, and won a close decision over unbeaten British challenger Martin Murry. During the fight Martinez suffered several injuries and has to rehab those injuries until the end of the year. He won't be capable of fighting until the first quarter of 2014.

If I remember correctly most on here had Martinez winning. I had Murray winning clearly though but I wouldn't say that was a gift.

If I remember correctly most on here had Martinez winning. I had Murray winning clearly though but I wouldn't say that was a gift.

I was at the fight and i saw Murray winning but i couldn't score it because it was rainning a lot. Then i watch it at home and gave it to Martinez.
BTW i'm not so sure that Martinez can fill with 50000 people a soccer stadium again. I have the feeling (i might be wrong) that the Maravilla fever is pretty much gone here.

Apparently 72% of Argentinians voted that Murray won on a poll they ran down there.

Iirc Murray was leading the NSB poll early on but UK fighters tend to get rained on in NSB in the end lol.

It wasn't the worst decision ever, I'll say that much.
