Ali vs Liston in the "phantom punch" fight. It landed but it was very weak.

liston took a dive against ali, anyone who doesnt beleive that is easily brainwashed and should go join the army or something. maskaev took a dive against lance mount goofi whitaker.

The "phantom punch" has been debated endlessly. Who knows what really happened? But Liston's mob ties are well-known, the punch clearly didn't appear to have much impact, and Sonny wasn't exactly a soft dude.

I remember George Chuvalo discussing it in the documentary based on his own fight with Ali: "The Last Round: Chuvalo Vs Ali." George thought Liston took a dive. As he himself explained, "Liston was one tough hombre."
