Comments Thread For: Adamek-Jennings Crumbles - Money, HBO, Negotiations

A proposed heavyweight fight between Tomasz Adamek (49-2, 29KOs) and Bryant Jennings (17-0, 9KOs) is dead in the water. The fight was being targeted for an HBO date of November 2. Based on the details of the negotiations, the fight mainly fell apart due to money.

Kathy Duva, CEO of Main Events, who promote Adamek and have a minor interest in Jennings, was trying her best to finalize a deal with HBO. Jennings' lead promoter is Russell Peltz.

According to Duva, the fight started crumbling when James Prince, the manager of Jennings, held his own discussions with HBO and Adamek's manager, Ziggy Rozalski. At some point during the discussions, Prince was able to convince Ziggy that a 50-50 split of the entire pot, including the money from Polish TV, was the best scenario for everyone involved. Sources with knowledge of the details have told BoxingScene there was between $400-450,000 dollars on the table and Jennings was being offered $100,000 of that pot. [Click Here To Read More]

That's a lot of info for a meh fight that won't happen.

What happened to shows on NBC proper? The two shows they did got decent ratings. So much for the comeback on network TV for both Duva and GBP.

jennings is lucky to even be getting any fights. duva gave him the slot last year when chambers pulled out against liakhovich. turned down glazkov, pulev & now adamek. 2 fights for $100000 purse, 1 fight in an IBF eliminator & another TV slot on NBC...jennings would be ****** not to part ways with his manager. he is getting horrible advice. jennings has a win over bowie tupou & liakhovich. look what wilder did to the same former champ. jennings has no leverage...too bad his career is now going down the tubes so quickly.

50-50 on the polish tv rights indicates to me there was too much vodka flowing on that fishing trip...4 million people(mostly poles i'm assuming) are definately tuning in to see their beloved bryant jennings...this demand is pretty comical...haven't seen anything like this since chris byrd defending his belt vs andrew golota. he *****ed to don king that he was the champion & should get more money. byrd got $500000 if i'm correct & golota got 4 million. don king replied how many of the 15000 poles in MSG are here to see you?

This article quickly became tl;dr after the first few paragraphs. Adamek should just fight Cunningham again, preferably at CW. Both are completely irrelevant at HW.

in my opinion adamek has been ok at HW. the CW division is what's irrelevant since everyone keeps moving up in weight.

Like Adamek ever had any intention of going through with this fight. He'll find yet another bum to struggle past.
