Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo Can Land Perfect Punch on Floyd

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya believes WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) is capable of landing the perfect punch that is going to knock Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) out on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. De La Hoya says the public is getting more and more behind Canelo, sensing a major upset might happen next Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Everytime this guy opens his mouth he sounds more like an *******. You'd think because be used to be a fighter he'd know a thing or two about boxing, that clearly isn't true. Looking for the "perfect punch" against a fighter of Floyd's skill is like digging your own grave, you're out of the fight before the opening bell.

He doesn't mean it like canelo looking for a perfect punch. He means it like canelo CAN land that perfect, powerful shot that Floyd doesn't see coming that either puts out his lights or has him on ***** Street. I tend to agree with him too. Canelos shots are kind of sneaky and his style may have mayweather a little hesitant. Unlike a guy like Guerrero who had no chance to land that perfect punch because mayweather figured him out easily.

You both need to relax..he's a promoter it is his job to hype the fighters he represents..he's done the same for Mayweather with other opponents. Does Oscar the fighter wish he could've beaten Mayweather? Yes. Oscar the retired fighter and promoter? Doesn't give a shhh who wins he gets paid either way. I also believe nobody here has lived the sport like ODH has so I do believe but correct me if i'm wrong he knows a tad bit more about boxing, technique, and mega fights than anyone here.

I thought Oscar landed many perfect punches according to him. Let Oscar tell it, he was robbed. But during the Victoria Ortiz build up he told her/him that he was over the hill when he fought Floyd. Oscar is definitely on some powerful Mexican dope. Don't know if it's the coke or weed but the guy needs to put that crao down before he OD.

Oscar: "One thing that Floyd Mayweather has to understand is that my fighter's gonna kick your ass!"

Oscar: "If Canelo wins, there will be a rematch,""
                  Which is it, Oscar?

He's doing his job as a promoter. Why are all u lil floydies whining like a 13yr old with sand in her snatch?

When Floyd talks smack you girls say "oh he's just hyping the fight" or "keeping his name relevant".

Stop crying already. The smack talk is good from both sides. It'll make the fight that much better.
