edit -> Go advanced.
I heard about this a while back, that he was sick etc. Big shame.
Sir David Frost also just died which was a big shame. He's made that famous interview with Ali after the Foreman fight.
A lot of important people have died lately, Henry Cooper, Joe Frazier, Manny Steward, Bert Sugar - and now Tommy Morrison and David Frost.
RIP to all of them.Comment

All I could change was the title of the post, not the thread.
But yea, he was on a feeding tube and there were a couple of posts here talking about how bad he was doing.Comment

When I saw the headline I thought it was Canadian great Tony Morrison who kayoed Leon Spinks in one round - thus making him a better fighter than Ali & Holmes.
I'm just glad Tony's OK.
By the way, any source for Tommy Morrisons death?Comment

if it's true it's hardly a shock. i'm sure most of you know this, but morrison has been living with aids since the 90's.
RIP to a very good fighter. morrison had about as good a left hook as you'll ever see. if he had a better chin he would have been a very rough go. he fought in a terrific era. today you'd see that guy knocking a lot of people out, and he'd be a huge star. i'd only pick him to lose to the klitschkos.Comment

He survived a long time for somebody who never took any treatment for HIV. What's sad is he probably convinced a lot of people (including his girlfriend) that HIV is a myth, that it's all part of a conspiracy.Comment

The link the OP provided will not work for me. I do notice that Wikipedia now lists him as deceased as well (which doesn't prove it, but ...).
Anyway, very sad. As far as boxing, Tommy was a part of memorable moments in the ring to be sure -- both in his favor (who could forget the left hook that floored Razor Ruddock?) and against him (who can forget the images of the KO against the ropes he suffered at the hands of Ray Mercer?).
The larger story, however, goes far beyond the sport of boxing. One hopes others might learn something from the cautionary tale of the life & death of Tommy Morrison.Comment
