Yes, I was following the sport when Mayweather was ducking Kostya, making excuses to face Hatton at Ricky's ONLY effective weight, and having nightmares about Cotto breaking his ribs.

Where were you? Let me guess: listening to Mayweather's talking points.

Guys were giving Martinez crap for fighting Macklin as Martin Murray. But now guys big the guys up because they were/are potential opponents for GGG.
Proksa and Macklin not power punchers? *facepalms As for everything else, get off Boxrec and watch Golovkin' fights. Not 3 or 4, but 20 of them, maybe you'll be able to see his skills...

I remember Kostya himself sayin' that Mayweather fight is nearly impossible to organize 'cause of TV network conflict: at that time Tszyu had a contract w/ Showtime and PBF w/HBO.

Before the 2013 new boxingfans-nuthuggers get started (too late) Kid Chocolate had a chance to fight GGG, BEFORE he signed with Golden boy and BEFORE GGG was on showtime, there was no possible contract dispute/barrier.

Haters can keep on hating, GGG will keep on winning. I say by about the end of 2014, there will be nothing left for them to say. And they'll move on to the next - not local/regional fighter whos rising up and hate on them too.

For the record: Quillin had his chance with Golovkin, and now he's stuck on Showtime fighting the likes of Danny Jacobs......and..... Well theres no one else, really.

Clearly you weren't following. Because if you were, you'd know that Floyd had an exclusive contract with HBO and Tsyzu had an exclusive contract with Showtime, remdering the fight impossible to make. Hatton is on record, as the lineal and universally recognized jr welterweight champ, saying he needed a couple tune-ups before fighting Floyd after sitting ringside for the Floyd-Gatti fight. And Arum said Cotto was "too green" for a fight with Floyd even though he was glad to promote him as the then WBO jr welterweight champ.

I've seen plenty of threads, post saying GGG would beat anyone from jr middle up to light heavy. GGG gets credit for fighting subpar opposition and and his past few fights has been vs jr middle with one middle Macklin. But yet Mares @ a younger age opposition has 10x better than GGG, than he loses and he becomes a bum. By the way not once in any of my post have a called GGG a bum, Heck he's a top fighter, but he gets far more credit than he deserves.
I really don't understand at all what this has to do with my post. You complained about people making a big deal out of GGG destroying Macklin, I explained why it mattered, and you're going off on a tangent about who knows what.

Macklin did very well against Sergio, the best middleweight. Macklin was therefore looked at highly at middleweight because of that performance. So when GGG destroyed him, it was a good win. Has nothing to do with hyping Macklin up as you were saying, it was simply looking at the Martinez fight and knowing Macklin was one of the better fighters in the division.

At that time, a GGG-Quillen fight would have basically been prospect vs prospect. When does that ever happen?

Please, both of those guys are average punchers for the middle weight division. I'm involved deeply in the sport of boxing and love the sport and its history. I've been following GGG since he won silver @2004 Athens losing to Gaydarbek Abdulovich Gaydarbekov. I watched GGG win the vacant IBO middle weight KO Lajuan Simon in the 1st round with a tremendous left hook. Most of you guys just starting following GGG within the past year and half once HBO started backing him. Than you run to youtube watch some of GGG's old fights. Than try to come back and make/post threads like you've been folloing him since his amateur days. I have seen enough of GGG to know what he possesses and what type of attributes he have. I never said he didn't have skills, nor did I say GGG wasn't a top fighter. All I asked is whom has he faced to know what type of chin he has, to test he skills, and to see what he's really made of. Saying all I have to do is watch and I'll know or see his skills, that can be very deceiving with whom you face. Look @ Mares before the Gonzales fight he looked like a machine, and looked to have an iron chin, than ****! Now Froch has an iron chin, just look @ whom he faced not including Ward.
