Cotto showed Mayweather's true level. Floyd's lucky he's the only guy in the sport with something resembling the complete package in terms of overall athleticism and intelligence... Floyd Mayweather the false ruler... The ignoble king. He sits next to Justin Beiber. Literally. This is their time.
Did Floyd Mayweather get tired at the end of Rd. 5 Vs Miguel Cotto?

I guess I'm not seeing too much of that, 303. Maybe a little. I do think Cotto cracked Floyd with a nice left hook-slap with 0:37 left in the round, which probably accounted for a slightly 'woozier' Floyd in the final bit. But to me Floyd never looked in trouble, and TBH he showed me that on top of so many other fine attributes, he even seems to possess a pretty tough chin to boot.Comment

All you say may be true..BUT somehow Floyd finished stronger and almost dropped Cotto in the 12th..seems like you are looking at all the negative for Floyd without showing how he overcame adversityComment

I looked it up and he did, seems like he had a lot of self-doubt at that point. I figure Cotto's early investment to the body and Floyd's crushed nose helped him rally the middle rounds. This was a very competitive fight with Floyd edging it in the championship rounds when Cotto started gassing. Floyd's 12 round stamina is actually one of his greatest assets.Comment

I'm probably in a minority with my opinion but I think Floyd chose to stand toe to toe / in the pocket (if u can call it that) with Cotto, I think he wanted to give him his type of fight, I think he allowed it to try and let Cotto know he couldn't beat him in a fight that he's comfortable with style-wise
Although I do agree Cotto did give Mayweather more problems than he probably anticipated, I think he easily coulda spun off the ropes and into the centre of the ring if he wanted to (as we saw in Guerro and many other previous fights)
I don't expect to be seeing that this month though.Last edited by MPX309; 09-02-2013, 03:24 AM.Comment
