Maidana, Matthysse and Garcia all have comparable power though I think Maidana is as effective as any of them at delivering power from any angle in transition. Matthysse and Garcia need to have certain things happening geometrically to generate knockdown/knockout punching. JMO

Maidana doesn't have that snap. Pure power. Garcia & Matthysse have that snapping thing going on.

I just find it intriguing how people give Maidana the edge on power when Garcia KO'd two fighters that Maidana struggled and went the distance with. Not saying your opinion is not valid, but interesting.

Garcia has yet to show me he has more than slightly better than average power maybe a 6-6.5 on a scale of 10.

Amir was on that HGH when he fought Maidana and still almost got dropped. He was too tight to pay his supplier any further so they cut him off, that was just before the Garcia fight.

He ate 50 power punches in 1 round!

hitting a speedbag or mitt and hitting a chin are completely different animals.

i've caught mitts for guys with power the first time they ever put on a set of gloves. obviously those guys can't land punches on the chin of a world class fighter. that's kind of like marcos maidana.

just watch how people fight maidana. they're all concerned with the power the second they feel a shot, or even see a punch miss.

i guarantee that if you caught mitts for both guys you'd say that maidana hit a hell of a lot harder.

Interesting point. I wonder if timing can affect mitts. Like with baseball, it's the optimum point of contact to transfer the most force/power.
