Castillo was well used and although he got some of his best wins later, had been worked over by Julio Cesar Chavez, whose main sparring partner he'd been for about 7 straight years. That was enough to wear out any fighter. At least that's what the writers were saying and I agree with them.Comment

You don't seem to understand that "this era" is so-far only a few years along........ MannyP is the fighter of the Decade...from 2001 to 2010 inclusive. Here you are again on another Floyd thread. Go away! Pac got fighter of the decade with a loss and two draws under his belt. Which he should have lost to Marquez in the second fight. And you can't compare the 80's that was a different time.
At the end of the day Floyd is the best of this era period. You sure do follow Floyd a lot and lead up to this fight to claim to not be interested and watching the fight haha.... What a loser you are
And a social "era" could be 50-100 years, or, in evolution, even hundreds of millions, although in boxing it can be roughly about 25 years I'd say.
You guys use certain terms far too freely to be taken seriously....like "fabulous" (boxing writers).."excited" (boxing promoters)... "legendary"(boxing writers) ... "era' ****** fans).... etc al. Every time I see a boxing promoter 'excited' at some signing, or show coming up, I always wonder how he can manage to control himself with his girl-friend....Comment

Weeelll...he's the Promoter and is expected to try to work up interest with all the usual crap. And he's doing it. If it wasn't him it would be Schaefer, because they are the two recognised faces of Golden Balls. The way I see it with Oscar having much more presence in this particular fight build up is like everyone says force feud, I expect it to be a long running one as Oscar sends out as many fighters in hopes to beat Floyd, and this is the story angle to put more bums on seats.
By the way the ending to this week's episode has been one of the best in any fight build up in a long time. Kept that part on repeat for a few times.
He's not putting him up against his fighters in hopes that they will beat him, that would seriously damage his future money-making from the "Mayweather being unbeaten" crap.. He's putting Mayweather against his guys because Mayweather needs a big promoter whose name is not Bob Arum and Oscar is the only other one who has the guys who can reasonably be talked up as good opponents.. Oscar likely prays every night that an accident won't happen causing Mayweather to lose. never mind his PR crap.
All the guys have some sense and stop frothing at the mouth, or else bystanders will think there's something seriously wrong.. over every little piece of drek that a promoter spouts.Comment

Sparring isn't a fight. You work on things, and at times it gets intense, but sparring is not a fight. If I were to believe you or the writers, boxers would be totally worn out to the point that sparring is banned.Castillo was well used and although he got some of his best wins later, had been worked over by Julio Cesar Chavez, whose main sparring partner he'd been for about 7 straight years. That was enough to wear out any fighter. At least that's what the writers were saying and I agree with them.
In sparring you can't get hit with some of the basic punches.
You work on slipping the jab, rolling, parrying, pressure, cutting off the ring, avoiding big right hands and left hooks and vice versa, Ropeadope etc...
You don't go in to wear down the champ or the sparring partner. Fighters often congratulate sparring partners after fights for pushing them.Comment

You don't just bring anyone into sparring to spar with when you are a top pro training for a fight. You bring in a guy who has similarities to your opponent. Injuries happen. It isn't necessarily that Canelo is looking to ko or hurt sparring partners. Injuries happen.Comment

Well, when you find out the truth of what truly happened, let us know Alton.
I wouldn't judge anyone here on this message board if they were accused of something or convicted. Ish happens that you have no control over. 99.9% of the time it takes two to tango.Comment

"Whopping" and Floyd do not belong in the same sentence......what Pac did to DLH, Hatton and Cotto is what you call real ass-whoppings! Floyd barely sc****d a SD and technically one official judge saw DLH beat Floyd. I wouldn't call that a "whopping".

Seriously, go back and watch just that one part and you'll see what I mean.
