WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (22-0-1, 20KOs) brushed off the trash talk of IBF champion Bernard Hopkins. Kovalev is coming off the biggest win of his career, a fourth round TKO of previously undefeated Nathan Cleverly. Kovalev is likely going to make his first defense of the title in November. One possible opponent, althought it remains to be seen if it could be finalized before the end of the year - is WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, if he beats Tavoris Cloud next month.

Hopkins is legend. I would like to face someone of his experience, but at the moment this is not possible. He's a fighter for the channel Showtime, and I am affiliated with HBO. These organizations compete with each other and do not work with [non-affiliated] boxers

we all know it, this is what the GB and TR fight has done to boxing. It's split in the middle between two rival networks because these guys can't pull their heads out of their asses.

Looks like he got that HBO contract. Sounds like a three fight deal?

HBO, Golden Boy....they really need to settle their differences. Not that Hopkins vs Kovalev is a super fight or anything, but Golovkin vs Quillin, Hopkins vs Stevenson list goes on and on of fights we wont see anytime soon.

Cause they were taking all their top fights to Showtime, and leaving HBO mostly with a couple of showcase fights. Before that they had an output deal with HBO that was not good value (smacked of extortion at times), and squeezed out most other promoters. That all made them a bad partner.
