Comments Thread For: Mendez Reveals He Was Sick Prior To Usmanee Defense

It’s been a week and Argenis Mendez still wonders how he managed no better than a majority draw in his August 23 title defense against Arash Usmanee.

As bitter of a taste the final decision leaves in his mouth, it beats what almost was the alternative – the fight not happening at all.

“I said before the fight that I had a tough opponent in front of me and I was prepared to win. But I missed four days of training due to being sick,” Mendez reveals of the struggles he endured towards the tail end of training camp. “I couldn’t even swallow food or water without throwing it up. You don't have to have an excuse for a fight you realistically won.

No wonder he tired a bit late, but he still dominated in my opinion. I had Usmanee winning 3 rounds only. 4 maybe because one was a close round only due to his activity. Mendez impressed me in this fight.

Mendez clearly is looking like an elite fighter. I hope he gets a chance to show what he is made of. He has the skills and its been showing as of late.

              The story is 100% true.

His trainer wants go from super feather to light-welter because making weight is really hurting Mendez now and he's going to vulnerable soon.
