That's a lie. Floyd is the best at countering not Pernell. Pernell the hardest to hit. And Peps the most effective and better brain. Pep admits to standing on Sadler's foot to get the advantage in the first fight< that's Genius.

P4P Willie Pep beats them both IMO. And he defo beats Marquez. I'm sorry to say it might not even be competitive.

Countering is not offense/defense. That's mainly countering. I consider offense/defense staying in the pocket for a sustained time, hitting and not getting hit in the middle of the ring. Not a singular moment in a fight where you slip and rip.

Floyd is a hit and move type of guy. Or a hit and move out of the way type of fighter. Or a lay on the ropes and get hit, but be in control type fighter.

Pernell could dance on you while staying stationary and moving, while outlanding you.

Your trying to say that dodging a punch then coming back straight away isn't the epitome of Defense/offense?

For instance Gamboa bouncing in and out is an example of fast defense/offense

Your talking about fighting in the pocket. James Toney is the undisputed King of this.

Countering is a singular moment in a fight. It doesn't encompass the epitome of offense/defense. Pernell was the better mid to close range defense/offensive fighter in a stand still or with movement.

Floyd is hit, slip and move. Pernell is slip, hit, move, and stay in close range and hit/slip.

Toney was great on the inside, but peak for peak Pernell's defense/offense on the inside was better and more elusive. The shoulder roll is limited in the fact that you still get hit.

But dude, you should really post these in the fantasy fight section. Especially when you post them this often.
I think there should be a "super-dooper" Fantasy page for stuff like this..... The kind that we read that The Old Man Of The Mountain used to induce in his assassins before he sent them out to knock off some very hard to get at person. I think they soup-p the present day suicide bombers the same way, brainwashing them into what kind of wonderful future they'll have in Paradise...
