So what does Chicano mean in PR? Because in Mexican culture, that's someone who is born in the US that's of Mexican blood usually.

Just looked up "El Mexicano", it seems he's born and raised in PR but his parents are Mexican. So he's basically a Mexican born and raised in PR....interesting.

Really don't know the answer to that lol I can only assume he wanted to distinguish himself from being just another boxer with the last name Cotto from PR.

I also didn't know El Mexicano was mexican, I was always under the impression he was from PR. He also has family in Philly too.

I guess only his mom is PR.


EDIT: Seems like it was his step father not real father that was Mexican...

Don't know his history, but I most PR nicknames go by looks. ei, Flaco, Gordo, Negro, etc etc. Much like Maidana's nickname is El Chino. Funny thing is one of my favorite PR rappers is named El Mexicano.

LOL! Mexicans do the same thing but tend to use insulting names like el feo, el narizon, el tonto, el chango, el terror de las buffets( JC Chavez jr?), el nalgon, etc.
