Junior welterweight/welterweight contender Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2) is currently training for his October 19th clash with WBO junior welterweight champion Mike Alvarado. The fight takes place near Alvarado's hometown in Colorado and will be televised by HBO.

A week prior to Alvarado-Provodnikov, Tim Bradley will defend his WBO welterweight title against Juan Manuel Marquez on HBO pay-per-view. Bradley narrowly defeated Provodnikov on March 16th in a leading candidate for "Fight of the Year" honors. For one thing Marquez just knocked out the guy that everyone with eyes and a functioning brain would agree beat Bradley fairly clearly.

Tim winning wouldn't be a massive shock but he's understandably the underdog.

Ruslan needs to worry about Alvarado first and foremost. I do agree he deserves a rematch though should he win.. That being said, I think if Bradley beats Marquez, he'll be eyeing (and will be offered) a bigger match.

I wasn't aware Provodnikov was going to fight Alvarado. That's going to be a great fight!
