hmmm what do you guys think of Canelo's speed in this? I think his shoulders have gotten a bit bigger and he seems just a tad bit quicker. Still, I say 8-4 the night of the fight.

I think he looks faster because he's throwing short punches in the video, even the jab. If you look carefully he brushes the heavy bag with his face at least a couple of times.
In the first video of Manny working the heavy bag posted above, you can see the difference. Apart from the natural edge in speed, one can notice how Manny keeps the heavy bag at the end of his punches.
Ps: I'm not blaming Canelo or saying he was doing it wrong, besides, he hardly had enough space to train.Last edited by B-Bomber; 08-28-2013, 02:27 AM.Comment

That was earlier in Pacquiao's career when he was throwing mostly straight punches. Canelo is throwing mostly hooks in this video. He looks alright but obviously he's not going 100% for a media workout. But I don't think he should drop his hands, raise his head and bounce on his toes when he takes breaks, that's a bad habit.I think he looks faster because he's throwing short punches in the video, even the jab. Aye, I'm not arguing with that. That was earlier in Pacquiao's career when he was throwing mostly straight punches. Canelo is throwing mostly hooks in this video. I was just responding to the TS, who asked whether Canelo looked a bit faster than usual.
By the way, Canelo is indeed throwing lot of hooks, it seems to me that he's working on combinations based on a jab followed by hooks (mostly to the body).
I might be reading too much into it, for it is a simple media workout, but he said that he studied the Cotto fight and has gotten some insights from it.Comment
